Appointments
New Patient Consultation
A comprehensive psychiatric assessment covering current symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, previous treatment, medications, relationships, work and life circumstances, developmental history, and treatment goals. The consultation concludes with diagnostic impressions and an individualized treatment plan.
Follow-Up Psychiatric Care
Follow-up appointments vary by need. Treatment may include medication management and/or psychotherapy.
Individual Psychotherapy
Dr. Robinson practices from a psychodynamic perspective, an approach rooted in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. This approach explores the underlying patterns, often formed early and outside awareness, that shape how a person thinks, feels, and relates to others.
Treatment Approach
Psychodynamic psychotherapy begins from the premise that much of what shapes our lives operates outside awareness. The work considers patterns learned early, feelings kept at a distance, and ways of relating that once made sense but no longer do.
Treatment attends to the whole person: history, relationships, and the recurring difficulties that bring someone to care. The aim is an understanding of the self that lasts. Psychotherapy is open-ended, typically weekly or more frequent, and may be provided on its own or alongside medication.
Dr. Robinson completed the Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute, an advanced postgraduate program in the theory and practice of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
